How To Play Veyrune

Build carefully. Push deeper. Cash out before greed kills the run.

The Core Loop

  1. Login and choose or create a character.
  2. Pick an active rune. This decides your main combat style.
  3. Start an Expedition from the world map.
  4. Choose a route and an Expedition modifier.
  5. Fight enemies until the encounter is cleared.
  6. At checkpoints, decide whether to continue, rest, or cash out.
  7. Use claimed rewards to upgrade runes, socket supports, equip gear, and push deeper.

Starting Out

Start with a simple rune and learn how long enemies take to defeat. Early Expeditions are about understanding when your damage is enough and when your health is falling too quickly.

Beginner advice Cash out early when you find gear or support rune drops. Rewards are only kept after cashing out at a checkpoint.

Runes

Strike A reliable baseline rune. Good for learning combat and support rune combinations.
Heavy Strike Slower but stronger. Works well with damage supports, but takes more enemy hits.
Thorns Aura Defensive retaliation. It performs best when you can survive repeated enemy attacks.

Support Runes

Support runes modify your active rune. They can add bleed, healing, double hits, damage multipliers, or special Thorns Aura bonuses.

  • Support rune slots unlock as your highest Expedition depth increases.
  • Not every support works with every active rune.
  • Support runes gain experience while socketed.
  • Duplicate support drops become shards used for upgrades.

Expeditions

Expeditions are risk-based runs. Enemies get stronger as depth increases, and your rewards stay in the reward bank until you cash out.

Safe Route Lower enemy scaling and smaller rewards. Best when learning a region.
Standard Route Balanced enemy pressure and rewards. Best default choice.
Dangerous Route Harder fights and better rewards. Use when your character is already stable.

Checkpoints

After clearing an encounter, you usually reach a checkpoint with three choices.

  • Continue: keep pushing deeper and risk your banked rewards.
  • Rest: recover health, but reduce banked gold.
  • Cash Out: end the run and keep banked gold, gear, materials, and support drops.

Gear And Rewards

Gear drops during Expeditions and is claimed when you cash out. Weapons improve attack, armor improves defense or health, and trinkets can improve rewards or rune experience.

Important If you die before cashing out, pending Expedition rewards are lost. Do not treat banked rewards as owned rewards.

Survival Tips

  • If fights start taking too long, enemy damage will drain you over time.
  • If enemies are hitting too hard, return to an easier route or region.
  • Healing supports help sustain, but they do not replace smart cash-outs.
  • Dangerous modifiers can make a stable character fail quickly. Read each modifier before choosing.

When To Cash Out

Cash out when one of these is true:

  • You found a new support rune.
  • You found gear that might improve your character.
  • Your health is low and resting would remove too much reward value.
  • A new modifier made the run much more dangerous.
  • You reached a new depth milestone and want to lock in progress.
