Crafting, Balance & New Player Pass
A broad balance and usability pass focused on making builds clearer, crafting matter more, and early progression easier to understand.
Developer Notes
- This update tightens the core loop around expeditions, rune builds, crafting, and disciplines.
- The main goal is to make power growth easier to read without flattening build identity.
- Rune Etching now states its Expedition source and build role more clearly.
Balance
- Reduced extreme expedition modifier stacking so deep runs no longer spike player or enemy power as aggressively.
- Reworked several damage-increasing expedition modifiers into smaller, more roguelite-style bonuses.
- Retuned enemy health, damage, traits, boss depths, and rare enemy pressure around the newer build data.
- Adjusted weaker rune builds upward while keeping the strongest outliers under control.
- Starter gear was toned down so it helps new characters without replacing early upgrades.
Runes & Builds
- Attack runes now unlock over early character levels instead of all appearing at once.
- Support runes no longer use item rarity, making them cleaner build tools rather than loot-tier items.
- Rune manager cards now show locked rune requirements more clearly.
- Support rune tooltips were added so their purpose is easier to understand before equipping.
- Several attack rune mechanics were adjusted so direct hit, shock, bleed, poison, thorns, sustain, and delayed damage builds have clearer roles.
Crafting & Disciplines
- Crafting now uses clearer prefix and suffix limits instead of one general affix count.
- The Crafting Bench UI was cleaned up with smaller action buttons, better tooltips, and clearer material requirements.
- Forge discipline rewards now feed the Crafting Bench more directly through discipline materials.
- Herblore received better action pacing and a new later-game buff potion.
- Rune Etching now uses scarce Abyssal Depths Expedition inputs, then refines them into endgame build choices.
Logbooks
- Logbooks now unlock at level 10 so new players are not overloaded immediately.
- Added more Logbook nodes that interact with the newer crafting and discipline reward loops.
- Some Logbook choices can now improve discipline material drops, support rune weighting, guarded caches, or rest safety.
- Logbook node labels and tooltips were cleaned up for better readability.
Expeditions & Combat
- Rest is now limited to two uses per expedition, making checkpoint decisions more meaningful.
- Potion auto-use is off by default for new characters and can be enabled manually.
- Fresh expeditions and fresh combat now repair stale wounded health so players do not restart runs at the wrong health value.
- Floating combat text was enlarged and separated by damage type so major rune procs are easier to see.
- Combat log entries were cleaned up with clearer categories and less repeated noise.
New Player Flow
- New characters now start with basic equipped gear and six Healing Tonics.
- The First Steps modal was updated and the Help page now opens the same onboarding information.
- Character creation, guest play, and protected routes were tightened so direct URLs no longer bypass the intended flow.
- Login and register calls to action were cleaned up so returning players land on Login first.
UI & Quality of Life
- Battle cache wording, checkpoint actions, rune cards, discipline buttons, and profile panels received readability passes.
- Removed unused Runic Essence display text and other stale UI references.
- Several hover, active-border, spacing, and text overflow issues were cleaned up across the game.
- Offline discipline progress now reports what completed while the player was away.
Save Reliability
- Cloud and local save handling was strengthened so account saves and guest saves stay separated.
- New character creation now initializes gear, potions, runes, health, and expedition state more consistently.
- Combat effect carry-over was fixed so effects like Gravebind no longer fire at the start of a new expedition.
